PONYCLUBBER REQUIREMENTS
Pony clubbers are children under 21 years of age as of January 1 of the current year. There is no minimum age for a ponyclubber but all Beginner members must be able to walk, trot and guide their mounts independently before joining.
Our Pony Club members progress through a standard rating system (something like Boy and Girl Scouts' ranks) that requires them to learn more and more about horses and their care and to become increasingly accomplished riders. They attend both mounted and unmounted lessons and participate in rallies and regional events.
PONY CLUB MOUNTS
AWHPC does not provide mounts....All ponyclubbers are responsible for having their own horse to ride. A Pony Club "pony" is not necessarily a pony at all. Pony Clubs use "pony" in the British sense meaning any mount ridden by a junior. There are Pony Club ponies that are 17 hands high; that's not so little. For competitions, there are age limits, however. Horses and ponies used at rallies must be at least five years old. A horse is considered to be one year old on January 1, following the date of foaling. Stallions are not generally considered suitable mounts. All mounts are required to be healthy and sound.
AGOURA-WOODLAND HILLS PONY CLUB
AWHPC is composed of: PonyClubbers, Parents, Sponsors, and Boarders.
PONY CLUB PARENTS
Pony Club parents are really the most important participants in all of our Club activities. When you join AWHPC, here is what will be expected from you -- the parents.
- Attending Meetings - We look forward to parent participation at meetings. Not everyone, of course, can or
wants to be an officer, but your ideas and suggestions are very much needed and appreciated.
- Work Parties - This means clean up of the Club grounds, setting up for shows, painting, maintenance, etc.
- Fund Raisers - We always need help on fundraising -- including working in the show, helping to set up jumps, assisting in the registration booth, ring crews, etc. EVERYONE is expected to help.
AWHPC SPONSORS
The sponsors of AWHPC are parents and/or guardians of our Pony Clubbers as well as active adults in our program concerned about our Ponyclubbers. Only Sponsors are entitled to a vote at meetings. All parents and boarders are encouraged to become sponsors.
